Olompali State Park

Matt and I are trying to explore as much as we can out here. We loveeee hiking. Last Saturday it rained a bit during the first half of the day and then cleared it to blue skies and rainbows. The cloud didn't look too far off so we didn't want to venture too far and get stuck in a rainstorm. I remembered a state park that I pass on the highway everyday that is only about 15 minutes from my place so we decided to check it out.

Olompali State Park has a pretty crazy past. Originally inhabited by the Miwok people, it's also the site of a violent battle, was used as a ranch and retreat for Jesuit priests and ended up being home to hippy commune (including The Grateful Dead) before it became a park. You can take the Loop trail for a great hike around the property.
Big trees!
Love the blue sky and green grass after the rains.
